Revitalizing The Possibility Pt. 1
Okay, I haven't been updating much on my Xanga. I'm too busy shagging Draco hell, no, I wish so. In fact, I'm not that busy, just don't do online thing as usual. I got stuck in a beat with Michael Jackson albums and tried to write something off which later I succeed.
Here is the first part of "Revitalizing The Possibility" a sequel to "Reincarnating The Opportunity".
It is just off the oven and is freshly baked! Hope you like it.
If you just came across this and never read this series. I highly recommend you go read the first installment "Reincarnating The Opportunity" before you start this one.
This part is not yet beta-ed so considered it is a first draft because I may change a tiny bit of it later when I finish off the whole story.
You can also read both stories on fictionpress.com if you prefer by clicking here for Reincarnating The Opportunity and here for Revitalizing The Possibility.

Part One
by Nannie Starrison“Hi there, Charlie dear! This is mom. God, I forgot that it’s still a night at Derbyshire and dad had to remind me that you all are asleep! But I miss you and your sister so much. Take care of her! Call us back as soon as possible, Charlie! Bye!” A beep sound of a voice mail machine was off right after the end of the sentence. Three people were standing around. One looked bored, one looked excited and one looked miserable.
“Charlie, mom called us again.” A six-year-old girl looked up at her brother, tucking at a hem of his shirt. Her eyes were gleaming as if she was silently asking him to finally call their parents.
“Yeah, right, Avery. The twenty-second time since we arrived.” Charlie glanced down at Avery and said absentmindedly.
“Are you going to call them already, Charlie? I can’t bloody sleep if the damn phone is ringing every single minute in the middle of the night!” George threw his hands up in frustration then yawned loudly.
“Blame it on your bloody idiot self, George. You could have put it in sleep mode so you don’t have to hear every single ringing call.” Julian said and rolled her eyes dramatically as she walked pass by. George narrowed his eyes at his twin then turned back to Charlie, expecting him to do something about it.
“She’s right, mate. I mean, you’re no idiot. Just, ehm, a little too upset to think clearly how to silence, I quote, ‘the damn phone’ in the easiest way.” Charlie made a quote gesture then shrugged while George was just pouting childishly at his twin sister and didn’t seem to pay much attention at Charlie.
“Charlie, call mom, call mom!” Avery was now bouncing up and down, pointing at the phone.
“Alright, Avery. I know you miss them.” Charlie smiled at her eagerly action. He picked up the phone, pressed on several numbers and waited.
---------------------------------------
“Who knew we were to meet gorgeous Aussie guys around here!” An Asian-looking girl exclaimed at her friend with a dreamy expression written all over her face.
“Quite being so dramatic, Amelia. We are here for a summer assignment, not ogling on guys in the middle of Derbyshire, are we?” Another girl on a swing under the large tree retorted playfully then whipped her brunette hair off her face as a strong wind blew it from her left side. Then she put a book she read on her lap and continued to swing lightly.
“Definitely, no and yes. This is our summer for goodness’s sake.” Amelia made a face of disappointment then she drawled out like Joker in The Dark Knight saying “Why so serious?”
“Because if I was not serious, I’ll never be able to get the first honored when I finish the degree, got it?” Monique replied with a sharp look as if expecting her friend to understand.
“Got it, Monique. But gosh, I think you have to get laid sometimes.” Amelia threw her hands up in bored expression before continued to sketch on a paper.
“I’ve got laid enough before. I won’t need it right now. No, thanks.” A brunette girl shrugged nonchalantly. She then stopped swinging and picked up her book once again, ignoring Amelia completely.
“You are no fun at all.” Amelia mocked a huff before returned to sketch down her imaginary. The comfortable silent started to fill in between them and there was only a breezing and birds singing sound in the air.
Time passed for a few minute and Amelia started to fidget in her seat. Monique eyed her questioningly and caught her friend discreetly looking her way a couple time. Until then, Monique grew more suspicion as Amelia opened her mouth as if to say something but closed it again.
“Spill it out already, Amelia. What’s got your tongue, huh?” Monique kindly said in a low voice. Amelia winced and turned to face her friend, looking somewhat guilty for getting caught.
“Well,” Amelia straightened up, leaned in and continued, “You know, that guy next door. Charlie, isn’t it? He is very handsome, looking a bit pensive but yeah, he’s a hot meat! Don’t you think?”
“What is your point exactly?” Monique tried to look bored but her eyes were sparkling with curiosity. If this friend of her was complimenting someone specially, not some random people on street. She was likely to have a unthinkable idea like matchmaking him to a girl she was talking to. Everyone in their group came to conclusion that this weird habit must have been an effect of growing up in the arranged marriage family for sure.
“My point is he is a great choice for you, exactly!” Amelia chirped in excitedly.
Upon hearing a raven hair girl’s idea, Monique was almost gone into panic attack. She blurted out. “What? Just that he looks edible and delicious makes him a great choice for me? I am not a kind of girl to just jump to any guy just because he’s hot! I now think it’s you who need to get laid because your matchmaking skill is getting too active, not me!”
“Whoa, whoa. Don’t get your knickers in a knot.” Amelia snickered, “I merely pointed out that he looks good but that’s not all I want to say. Lemme finish first, shall we?” Monique glared dagger at her friend but kept her mouth shut as a signal for Amelia to go on. “There’s a reason I think he might be interesting in you. When I arrived, I found him lurking around there,” Amelia pointed to an ivy fence row.
“Well, that’s inside his house. He can walk around wherever he wants.” Monique tried to reason.
“Stop cutting me off, would you?” Amelia was now looking like she was going to explode with irritation.
“Okay, go on.”
“Well, he seemed to look for you when he pretended to stroll around. Though, not in a creepy way. Not only that, I caught his posture changed when I mentioned your name when we first met. He was kind of getting all dreamy in sudden. Like he was in some sort of enchanted. He seemed to be in his own world for a minute until I called out his name. I tried again next time, he reacted all the same. It’s stranger than I ever saw yet not at all unpredictable. I’m very certain he fancies you!” Amelia finished proudly. Contented with her conclusion.
“Oh, now you become a body language reader too? Why did you still bother to study art anyway. You should have open your very unique matchmaking service!” Said Monique in somewhat sarcastic tone.
“Hmm, I might try my hand on that. Who knows? But please, stop changing subject for once, Monica.” Amelia sent her a sharp look, signaling she should stop making fun of her matchmaking skill.
“Do not call me Monica!” Monique gritted her teeth as she retorted. She always hated people calling her Monica because it reminded her of some bad memory with a bitch named ‘Monica’ who her ex-boyfriend was cheating on her with.
“Whatever, I got a feeling this guy is serious type. You know, I asked his cousin, George. He told me Charlie was just out of law school and that gotta mean something about him. Not every random guy just happened to earn law degree, right?” Amelia tried desperately to reason with Monique.
“Uh, yeah. Maybe. But he never really utters more than a few sentence at me after we met. Whenever he sees me, he looks like about to ...uh, faint. Then he will excuse himself. I don’t think he will be--” Monique told her friend in the lower voice.
“Oh, that’s a great sign!” Amelia exclaimed as she clapped her hands together in excited manner.
“How so?” Asked Monique. She was getting more confused about this sign Amelia was babbling on.
“He’s nervous to talk to you. It’s very obvious. A guy that is interesting most likely to get nervous about what he should say.” Said dreamy-eye Amelia before she snapped back to look smugly at her dear friend.
“But fainting? It doesn’t sound like he is happy to see me, Amelia.” Monique looked down, suddenly feeling self-conscious about her own appearance. ‘Do I look that bad that he felt like fainting?!’ Monique thought sadly with herself before she mentally shook herself out of an idea.
“Tsk, tsk. Hang in there, girl. It’s too early to judge. But from what I saw, at least he’s head over heel.” Amelia finished with a wink but then her eyes widened with glee before nudging her friend to look at her right side.
“Hi there, what a lovely day, isn’t it?” Amelia called out to a visitor.
“Hi , it is very lovely day indeed.” A male voiced greeted back.
Monique quirked her eyebrow in confusion but poked her head for better view from behind a tree anyway. There, she was immediately face to face with a man in their conversation.
---------------------------------------
“Hi Amelia. Yes, it is very lovely day indeed.” Charlie greeted back at a girl, smiling as he approached from a front gate. He like this Amelia girl. She always seems to be in high spirit. He walked closer to the tree, attempted to sit on the opposite Amelia but he stopped right at track as a head poked out of the shadow, looking bewilderedly at him.
“Oh, h--hi Monique. I didn’t see you sitting there. You, er, look very nice today.” He stuttered the word out when he realized it was Monique. She was sitting on a swing in pink sun dress and a pair of sandal. Her golden highlight on curly brown hair seemed like dancing in the sun as her hair flowing lightly. ‘Damn, I hope it is not happening!’ He thought to himself.
“Hi Charlie. Why thank you. How do you do?” He heard Monique’s smooth voice but he could not really make a word if he was not concentrate. He blinked twice before replied.
“Uh, I’m doing great. Thanks and you?” He might look like he was listening but the truth was he could only focus on her lips moving graciously at him and he caught her licking her lips then bit it down. He almost swore loudly at the suggestive sight but shut it up before it could left his mouth. His eyes scanned up to her pink cheeks, little nose and eyes. Her glassy hazel eyes which never leaved him alone after his strange dream started and when he finally met her in reality, it just marked its permanent place inside his brain. Her face was haunting everywhere, in his eyes, his dream, his memories he was sure he never saw it before and even now, in front of him.
---------------------------------------
“Hello, Clara love. You look very nice today. It’s a new dress I bought you from London.” Andrew walked up at his wife who was swinging lightly on a big swing under the tree.
“Why thank you. It is very comfortable especially for my current state. Very thoughtful of you.” Clara said and looked down at her prodding belly covered by the pink dress.
“Anything for you, love.” Andrew mumbled as he kneeled down in front of her and kissed her belly. As he was kissing and hugging her round belly, she touched his hair gently and bent down to kiss her husband as he looked up lovingly. The ray of sunlight peeking through many branches and leaves of the oak tree and bathing softly all over the lover’s face. It looked like myriad dots dancing happily whenever the wind swayed the branch here and there.
--------------------------------------
“Hello, anyone’s home?” There’s a sound calling him. It sounded distance at first but then he was brought back with realization that he was just standing there, staring helplessly at a brunette girl. Charlie finally snapped back to reality and found two worry-looking girls gazing intensively at him. He cleared his throat wishing they did not notice his absentminded state but he knew too well they already did, judging from the look written all over their faces.
“Uh, are you alright, Charlie? You look a bit pale.” Amelia asked quietly, raising an eyebrow at him.
He nodded before assured her. “Yes, yes. I’m alright. Just a bit light head. That’s all.” He then took a deep breath to calm himself and could not help but musing inside his mind. ‘Damn, it happened again. Now, in front of two girls nonetheless! How embarrassing
“Well, then. How do we owe you a pleasure?” Said Amelia. She sounded like she wanted to break the ice somehow.
“Oh, haha,” Charlie chuckled a bit and continued. “I walked pass by and decided to take a stroll around here. That’s when I saw you drawing so I dropped by to chat a bit.”
“That’s all?” Amelia said mockingly disappoint while Monique just kept swinging her swing quietly though she looked interesting.
“Oh, no. I still have one more thing.” Charlie smiled as Amelia broke into a grin. “We would like to invite you two to dinner at my house this evening. Nothing formal, just a family dinner.”
“Wonderful! Thank you. Did you tell our professor?”
“Yes, my uncle invited her already. She will tell you soon but I thought I should have invited you two personally too.”
“That’s very kind of you, Charlie. What time we should be there?”
“Around seven sharp. Well, I hope no one happens to be vegetarian, eh?” Charlie said jokingly and chuckled a bit as he saw Monique tried to hide her smile.
“Haha, no, actually. We don’t have any specialty. Thanks for asking though.” Replied Amelia in playful tone. Charlie might have thought she was flirting with him but after he saw Amelia was always talking like this with everyone, male and female, so he brushed it off as her outgoing personality.
“Okay, I should go now. Have a nice day. See you at dinner.” Charlie said and nodded curtly at them. His eyes were fixed at Monique as he retreated back but she just nodded back at him without looking up.
“See ya, Charlie.” Amelia called out after him but while he was walking away, he heard the soft foot steps approached him from behind. He peered over his shoulder and found a similar brunette skipping toward him.
“Uh, wait, Charlie. I just, umm, wanna tell you that...uh take care of yourself. You don’t seem to have enough sleep for quite sometimes.” Monique said concernedly. Her hazel eyes were boring into his soul through his eyes. They held each other stares for a while until Monique broke it away shyly and found her sandals interesting all in sudden.
‘Wow, she cares for me. This should be easier than I thought.’ Charlie mused hopefully as his lips curled into a broader smile before saying.
“Thanks, Monique. Take care of yourself too. You study too hard.”
“How did you know I study too hard?” She leaned back, her arms crossed over her chest. Her face was painted with a bit of wariness. He thought she was trying to guard herself.
“It’s not that hard to guess. Your side is practically attached to stack of book and homework. Even your professor is worry about it. She was afraid you would have been knock out anytime.” Charlie calmly stated and hoped he did not just turn a wrong way and ruined everything he was trying to do.
“Oh, I didn’t mean to scare her like that!” She almost cried out but still managed to keep her voice down. Her posture loosened and her gaze softened then. Charlie sighed to himself that it did not go too bad. He stepped a bit closer to her and said.
“I know, Clara love. We are just worry about you. Relax, it’s summertime!” He finished cheerfully when mentioned summertime and smiled warmly at her.
“Thank you, Charlie. Amelia told me exactly the same thing.” She cocked her head amusingly as she recalled of the conversation with her friend earlier but then she looked like she just remembered something. “But eh, what did you just call me?”
“Huh?” He paused, a bit taken aback. His mind was running rapidly as he got what she meant. ‘Damn, it was just slipped out!’ He thought and thought hard what should he said next. He watched her gazing expectantly at him, waiting for response. Only a few second passed but he felt like it went by very slowly and it was tormenting him. However, all in sudden, he heard Amelia shouting.
“Hey Monique, come here quick! Hydra is on the phone!”
Monique turned her head to the voice before turned to face Charlie again and said. “Oh, I gotta go. See you.”
“Yeah, bye.” Charlie said quietly and gave a small smile at her. She nodded in acknowledge at him then skipped back to her friend.
He let out a breath he did not know he was holding then unconscious threading his hair with his right hand.
‘Oh, my. That was close. If she found out too soon, she would think I’m mad.’ He thought to himself. Not knowing what to do next to reveal his true reason of staring and fainting without getting a cold shoulder.
His eyes followed her skipping until she reached the tree and snatched a mobile phone from Amelia. They both talked and laughed aloud to the said phone, looking carefree. The atmosphere around seemed to change back to normal state as it was before he stepped in. No strange unspoken tension, no avoiding gaze. He stepped back and hid under the shadow of another tree as he continued to watch. They would never noticed his piercing stare, or so he thought.

I def will read it. It's a lot to digest at this early hour. I would much rather return when I know I'll devote the time. It looks so well detailed and stuff. I actually might be able to pick up something for your writing as I continue work on my book.
@DBF21 - That's alright, Derek. It's bloody 4 in the morning (in US) when I updated it! I don't know what are you doing in that early time. Did you get any sleep? Anyway, what book are you working on? Is it about high school story you have posted? I'm reading your 'Catching up'. Is it a series or something?
@DBF21 - Thanks for reading and correction, Derek! That means a lot for me ;)
@starrynite45 - anytime Nannie. :D
I enjoyed this. How many more parts are there?
@godfatherofgreenbay - Thanks. Well, I'm not sure but since it's short story, I'll try to keep it short not more than 3 parts.
